Ratification of the Constitution

Ratifying the constitution was a very difficult process because nine of the thirteen states had to approve it. It was a ten month long process with the federalist and anti-federalist. From 1787 to 1789 they battled about how they didn’t want the Constitution to control their lives. Many people found that the constitutional Convention had failed to adopt a bill of right proposed by George Mason and believed that the constitution gave too much power to the central government. There was a great debate leaving federalist for the constitution and anti-federalists being opposed of it. After the ten months of going back and forth, nine out of the thirteen states approved it. These states being Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, good ole Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, and New Hampshire.
